The Ayangbure of Ikorodu and Permanent First Vice Chairman, Lagos State Council of Obas & Chiefs, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Kabiru Shotobi, has debunked claims that there is insecurity all over the country, clarifying that his own kingdom is secured and welcoming to everybody.
Oba Shotobi, emphasised that Ikorodu is home to people of various religious and traditional beliefs.
The monarch said this while welcoming some teams from Europe that were part of the 34th edition of the Ikorodu – Oga Day Celebration, which commenced on Saturday.
“Our friends have come to witness what we’re doing. They came all the way from Germany, Ireland and Abuja. Some have been residing in Abuja for the past two years. They came to Ikorodu and they have seen that we’re very peaceful and that’s what we are witnessing today.
“Whatever they’re saying that there is insecurity all over Nigeria, is not true. They have come to witness that there is no threat to life here. We are enjoying ourselves, demonstrating our culture and heritage, and that’s what we’re doing.
“We are celebrating the 34th anniversary of the existence of the Ikorodu Oga Festival. All our children, within and in the diaspora, are here to witness this year’s anniversary. I want to thank them and our good friends from Abuja, Ireland and Germany. I thank you very much for being in our midst.
“You have seen that everywhere is lively. There’s no threat to life and no insecurity. We’re living together, both Christians, Muslims, and others. We’re all together here. Thank you very much for being here today, and I want to thank everybody for participating in this year’s anniversary”.
Oba Shotobi also expressed his support for the administration of President Bola Tinubu, and charged residents of Ikorodu and others to support his New Hope Agenda.
“We are witnessing this New Hope Agenda, and I want you to support and propagate this ideal by our President, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It’s spreading down to the rural people. We will all get the dividends of democracy”, Oba Shotobi assured the large crowd..
